Part 1c: Test Before You Build
With your blueprint in hand, you can quickly and easily test your product without incurring huge R&D expenses. I’ve built several quick prototypes using PowerPoint. The Slide Master can consist of a bare wireframe of the web browser or mobile device. Each slide can then contain a mockup of the screens defined in the workflow with hyperlinks embedded over buttons on each PowerPoint slide. This way, you can test a visually realistic look with potential customers and iterate it before handing off a complete “assembly manual” to R&D.
Here’s a link to one rapid prototyping tool, Keynotopia. I’m sure there are better tools out there. Let me know what you’re using.
